Yerba mate, also known as Paraguayan tea or just Maté, is one of the best-known natural alternatives to coffee. The drink itself is prepared from a Paraguayan holly leaf and contains a large amount of caffeine.
Only thanks to this, however, he would not have gained such significant popularity. Paraguayan holly leaves can be classified among superfoods containing countless vitamins and minerals.
In some mixtures for the preparation of Yerba Maté, in addition to Paraguayan holly leaves, we also find, for example, guarana and other stimulants. In this case, the resulting drink will function as an even better source of energy.
There are basically two ways to prepare Yerba Maté. Traditional preparation using calabash and bombilli, I described this preparation in detail in our instructions on how to prepare yerba mate in calabash.
Yerba mate can also be prepared in a French press. In this case, proceed as when preparing coffee, but replace the ground grains with loose holly leaves. It is also very interesting to try different types of tickets, they can differ, for example, by country of origin.
