Beneath the Farallones del Citará mountain range, surrounded by the Cochuana forest, lies Finca Los Alpes at an altitude of 1,650-1,950 m above sea level. The farm has a unique microclimate that allows the coffee trees to flower and bear fruit twice a year. Founded in 1974, the Arboleda family grows coffee here on 100 hectares (100% Caturra ). The coffee is processed in their own wet mill where the cherries are de-skinned and pulped, followed by fermentation lasting 15-19 hours and drying for up to 7 days. The result is coffee with a taste of sweet chocolate, mild fruity acidity and a hint of nuts.
